About my 325is

I bought my BMW, a 1988 325is, in March 2001. I've really enjoyed taking it to the track with the BMW Club, SCDA and COM.

New mods:
After some furtive attempts over the winter at buying a dedicated track car, I've elected to further pursue the route of street/track compromise. I had a blast with the stock suspension on the track last year, but as my skills improved I began to really understand the limitations of a tall body on a relatively soft suspension; the car would take a long time to take a set in corners, and as I got closer to the limit, the weight transfer dance becomes harder and harder through esses.

With that in mind, the new mods to the car, thanks to Schneller BMW and the Tire Rack:

  • Bridgestone S-03 tires
  • H&R Sport springs/Bilstein Sport shocks
  • Stainless steel brake lines, with ATE Super Blue fluid
  • offset control arm bushings from the E30 M3

2003 update:

After 22 track days and lots of fun, I've upgraded my track car, and bought a white 1988 M3. The 325is is now wearing stock E30 M3 springs, with Bilstein HDs and Bridgestone RE750 tires.
